A quick post today, but one with a great link that I just discovered. Sometimes meal planning is difficult for me and we might end up with the same meals over and over again. This is when we become bored and are more inclined to eat out. Other times I just want to use up what I have in the back freezer or cupboard. I have some great recipes that I found from the ‘net and a lot that came from my mother, grandmother and aunts, but there are times when I’m not wanting to go through those to find a recipe using the ingredients I have on hand. Wouldn’t it be something if Google put their awesome search capabilities to use on just recipes?

Well, they have! Cookin’ With Google is a great resource. When you click on the link you will be taken to a no-frills page with a simple search bar. Type in just a couple of ingredients. Go ahead, first I tried “chicken pasta” just to see what would come up. You’ll get a couple of Google ads then underneath there will be the option of narrowing your search to different types of dishes such as seafood, low-fat and crockpot. Or, if you prefer, you can start the hunt for recipes under that.

You can add as many ingredients to the search as you want and you will get plenty of results. The results include recipes from sites such as Rezipezaar, Allrecipes, Cooks.com, GroupRecipes, and other ‘food’ websites. I didn’t see any results from blogs, which is where I tend to find my best recipes.

Try it yourself and see if you like it. I will definitely use it often.

I am usually pretty skeptical when it comes to those ‘As Seen On TV’ products. I look at them and ask myself how they could possibly work or see that they are a huge waste of money, whereas the DH wants every one of them because the 2 minute spot has convinced him that he can’t live without them. Lo and behold, sometimes the DH is right! I’ve branched out a bit since my first experience in 1999 and have tried a few of the other TV products with varying results.

I am in love with Hercules Hooks! I have to say that this is the most amazing and handy product to have around. more…

So, I am a full month into my new budgeting routine and I have to say that it’s going pretty well. I set up the budget in Microsoft Money and it has done wonders to keep me on track. more…

I’ve recently received several invitations to sign up for Facebook and people are having a hard time understanding why I will not use it. Most people do not take the time to read the privacy notice and/or the terms that are listed on the websites they sign up for. So read the following and you’ll probably get it.

Facebook Terms of Use:
(excerpt) “Proprietary Rights in Site Content; Limited License

All content on the Site and available through the Service, including designs, text, graphics, pictures, video, information, applications, software, music, sound and other files, and their selection and arrangement (the “Site Content”), are the proprietary property of the Company, its users or its licensors with all rights reserved….”

What does this mean? Well, they tell us in another paragraph:
(excerpt) “When you post User Content to the Site, you authorize and direct us to make such copies thereof as we deem necessary in order to facilitate the posting and storage of the User Content on the Site. By posting User Content to any part of the Site, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to the Company an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, publicly perform, publicly display, reformat, translate, excerpt (in whole or in part) and distribute such User Content for any purpose, commercial, advertising, or otherwise, on or in connection with the Site or the promotion thereof, to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such User Content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the foregoing. You may remove your User Content from the Site at any time. If you choose to remove your User Content, the license granted above will automatically expire, however you acknowledge that the Company may retain archived copies of your User Content. Facebook does not assert any ownership over your User Content; rather, as between us and you, subject to the rights granted to us in these Terms, you retain full ownership of all of your User Content and any intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights associated with your User Content…”

Yeah….no. A bit too free with the use of things posted on their site. And for those wondering, no…MySpace does not do the same:

6. Proprietary Rights in Content on MySpace.

6.1 MySpace does not claim any ownership rights in the text, files, images, photos, video, sounds, musical works, works of authorship, applications, or any other materials (collectively, “Content”) that you post on or through the MySpace Services. After posting your Content to the MySpace Services, you continue to retain any such rights that you may have in your Content, subject to the limited license herein. By displaying or publishing (”posting”) any Content on or through the MySpace Services, you hereby grant to MySpace a limited license to use, modify, delete from, add to, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute such Content solely on or through the MySpace Services, including without limitation distributing part or all of the MySpace Website in any media formats and through any media channels, except Content marked “private” will not be distributed outside the MySpace Website. This limited license does not grant MySpace the right to sell or otherwise distribute your Content outside of the MySpace Services. After you remove your Content from the MySpace Website we will cease distribution as soon as practicable, and at such time when distribution ceases, the license will terminate. If after we have distributed your Content outside the MySpace Website you change the Content’s privacy setting to “private,” we will cease distribution of such “private” Content outside the MySpace Website as soon as practicable after you make the change.

Just FYI.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have had several…several…piercings in the last decade. I have been to many different places looking for that *something* that I needed and not finding it, whatever it is. I enjoyed my first piercing with Church of Steel Friday night and, despite the cheesy name, it was the most amazing experience I have ever had.

Beautiful C Bear and I decided on a whim that it was time to have our nipples pierced and decided to make a go of it that very evening. We had both been planning, individually, to have it done but I decided it was the right time and invited her along. Unfortunately, my sense of direction was all fuckered up and we ended up getting there at 8:30 and they officially closed at 9.

After letting them know what we wanted, we waited for the owner to speak with us as he is the resident hole maker as well. He comes over to talk to us first and spent a good 20 minutes or so (could have been longer) just doing a bit of a consultation. He let us know what he would and wouldn’t do and threw some philosophy in there as well. Then there was paperwork to sign and we were taken back to the room.

C Bear was chosen to go first since she lives farther away and, if there wasn’t enough time, I could always come back on my own. You can read about her experience here.

After she was finished, it was finally my turn. Much time was spent prepping instruments (all being properly sealed and opened in our presence) and assessing the nipples because Art (the piercer) is conscious of the possibility of migration/rejection. Once it was determined that I would be able to have the rings I wanted instead of barbells, size was discussed and based on his recommendations and my desires, the perfect set was chosen.

Art then had me stand and spent a good amount of time marking position, being unhappy, wiping off the mark and marking again. When we were all satisfied, I was given permission to sit and begin some breathing exercises to remain grounded throughout the procedure.

Now, I’m not sure where this comes in but Art kept mentioning that he helps to ground his clients using the brow chakra. He also mentioned using it for centering. That I can see, grounding not so much. But anyway, he asked if I would like him to use his technique for me (which consists of mild pressure on the brow and a point on the shoulder) or if I could do it on my own. Since his use of the brow chakra was distracting for me, I opted to use my own techniques.

By this time my heart was racing and my palms were clammy and I was anxious to begin. Kind of like when you’re on your way to Disneyland and the drive there is just taking forever! My nipples stood erect in anticipation and I could definitely feel an expectation radiating from between my thighs. My thoughts were swirling like wisps of smoke in my mind and the slower things went, the more agonizing (but delicious!) it became.
Finally he started placing the clamp in the appropriate position and when he instructed me to take a big cleansing breath, I knew that we were so close to the point of no return. This time, I allowed my eyes to close to fully appreciate the experience and not stay in my body throughout the procedure. This room had a very large mirror on the wall I was facing and I knew that if I kept my eyes open I would be kept right there and miss out on something wonderful.

Cleansing breath, fully exhale, another deep breath, a full exhale and the needle went through. I had informed Art beforehand that after the needle was in I would prefer to be laid back because I wanted to avoid the nauseous feelings that come immediately after such a trauma. True to my request, back I went and I was allowed to bask in the high that only comes from endorphins. Yes, there was pain, but it was most exquisite and has lingered for two whole days, slowly tapering off to something bearable without fearing infidelity.

When I was ready, I let him know and we proceeded to the other nipple with the effects being the same. Of course, now it was doubled and I was more comfortable with this one and hardly flinched at all. Mental orgasm ensued and I would have fucked anything that offered at that moment. Luckily, I didn’t have to worry about that.

I spent awhile just enjoying the experience and chatting and Art finally went over the aftercare instructions. Now, these aren’t just any instructions. You have just received a high quality piercing experience and you are going to receive high quality aftercare instructions. This man went through each step of the process, from stepping into the shower, choosing your first cottonball, the drops of soap to use and the squeak squeak noise the ring will make when it has been rinsed properly. Of course, there was much more to it than I’m writing here but you can get the idea. I don’t feel like I have any questions about my aftercare and am thoroughly competent to make sure I heal properly. In all the piercings I have had, no one has mentioned cross-contamination and making sure to wash your hands with the soap before washing the piercing with the soap. That’s something that I already knew and that he made an issue out of us understanding it was significant.

It was almost 11pm when we finally left on our little clouds already thinking about our next piercing.

Ugh! What a wonderfully mind numbing weekend. PantheaCon is finally over and I am home happy, safe and sound. It was SO overwhelming at first and I had a really hard time on Friday. After a 90 minute yoga session, a new crystal to carry around in my hand and a good night’s sleep I was doing much better. I did also learn a new technique on Saturday morning for putting myself in a hamster ball and that worked really well for me at that moment but not so much later on. This work I’m currently doing on myself is really having it’s way with me and I have been working really hard lately. Results are slow but coming along nicely now.

I have a butt ton of topics I want to write about. I have had many conversations with wonderfully enlightened people who actually exercise common sense and…..understand me and the way I think! Go Figure!! I have had the opportunity to have actual discussions about topics not normally discussed in my personal relationships, have people explain their viewpoints and still say ‘Hey, I understand where you’re coming from. I just don’t agree.’ Sound familiar? :-) I would very much like to give a list of the classes I took and brief a impression on those classes and teachers. If you’re not interested, check this out.

Oh boy…where did they go wrong? Did they take a wrong turn a couple of years ago and just stay on the wrong path or were they always this way? I have no idea because I only made it to last year’s and this year’s event. Last year’s 1/2 sucked and this year’s totally sucked.

I know what you’re thinking. It’s easy to criticize something when I’ve had no part in it and don’t understand what’s involved and blah blah blah. WRONG! I have put on a Pagan Pride event and not as a general volunteer either, but as a coordinator. Yes, the event was smaller. No, we didn’t have the turnout that they do but it was a new event and I did it with about 15-20 other people, if not less!

I was very disappointed this year. I know the volunteers have worked hard and I know the stresses involved. But come one! For all of the preaching about ‘What This Event Is Supposed To Be About’ by a certain someone there, it sure has become about something else, if it ever was about education to begin wth. I didn’t learn anything significant about being Pagan that would benefit someone who is NOT Pagan. Everything there is for Pagans. I’m sorry, but isn’t that so NOT what this event is about? Isn’t it about educating the public about true and valid paths so that we can rid the world of the misconceptions? Hmmm….Guess not.

I could have saved gas and went to my local mall and had the same experience.

One thing I can say about San Diego’s Pagan Pride Day, you will learn something. And you will have fun. And you will interact with others. And you will have a great time.

Unless, of course, you’re there to shop. Then you’ll be disappointed with their measly 10 vendors, whereas LA had 80. 80 of the same things over and over.

Oh well, lesson learned and I don’t believe I’ll be going back next year.
